Bold, dark colours are this season’s fashionable shades for the home, according to a leading interior designer.
Self-employed designer Emma Gordon claimed that blue, purple and any shades in-between are set to be hot amongst furniture designers this winter.
Whether making a minor purchase such as new window shutters or redesigning a whole room, Ms Gordon insisted that block colours were the way to go for those hoping to keep up with the latest interior design trends.
Speaking to The Halifax Courier, she said: “Colour blocking has been a huge catwalk trend recently, and has now found its way into homewares and interiors. Don’t overdo it though! You only need one strong piece to make a statement.”
Animal print is also set to come back in a big way over the next few months, she added.
In an intimate feature for The Yorkshire Post, the mother-of-two recently showcased her own home as an example of how colour blocking can add life to a room. The report claimed her house was testament to her no-holds-barred style and proved that it pays to be bold.
“It had belonged to the same lady for 60 years and needed modernising but I could see the potential,” she said.
