Our History

For over 30 years we’ve remained passionate about creating beautiful home shading products. At Appeal we’re constantly developing new products that set us apart from the competition; finding exciting new ways of improving the look and finish of our blinds and shutters. Always quick to respond and keep in step with new interior design trends, we want to make sure that you choose the exact product that will truly enhance your interior space and your lifestyle.

Our skilled and dedicated team of consultants, craftsmen, surveyors, designers, fitters and customer service staff remain committed to providing you with a level of service that is second to none.

These are some of the landmark dates in Appeal’s history:

A local businessman first acquired a small Bristol-based retail blinds business and the focus on conservatory blinds took off.

Appeal launched ‘French Pinoleum’ as our speciality fabric.

As the popularity of conservatories soared, so did our production facilities, which doubled in size in the early 1990s. The Appeal name became known around the world as synonymous with quality and style as we started exporting to Ireland, Germany, Switzerland and the USA.

Championing traditional British style, our first National Trust Colour Pinoleum was launched. We were also delighted to be invited to exhibit at the Chelsea Flower Show, an event that has now become a favourite fixture in the company’s calendar.

The company was acquired by the current shareholders led by Michael Madigan, Chairman and Chief Executive. We changed our name to Appeal Conservatory Blinds to fully represent our niche specialisation.

The turn of the millennium witnessed further expansion and prompted more changes. We introduce innovative laser cutting technology and by 2005 we’d introduced motorized pleated blinds. Our exclusive Alu-Pleat® (85% heat reflective) fabric was added to the pleated blinds range.

We launched the New Window Shutters range at the Ideal Home Exhibition and at the Chelsea Flower Show. We’ve always enjoyed attending exhibitions as our customers’ views and ideas are very important to us.

We became known as Appeal Home Shading, adding our new Architectural Blinds range to complete our fantastic portfolio of products.
