Appeal Shading designed and installed a bespoke lantern roof blind system for a contemporary home, delivering precise solar control, seamless architectural integration, and intuitive smart operation. Working in collaboration with interior specialists The Home of Interiors, the project combined high-performance shading technology with a carefully coordinated interior scheme to ensure a consistent look and feel throughout the space. As a part of the overall project, The Home of Interiors also sourced the tracks and curtains in the Wintergarden room, demonstrating how different product categories can work together to create a cohesive and considered finish.
Client Brief:
The client required a shading solution for a large lantern roof that would:
The solution also needed to be discreet, ensuring the blinds would not catch or interfere with the roof insets or compromise the architectural design.
12 electric honeycomb blinds were installed to provide effective solar control for the lantern roof, while maintaining a discreet and integrated finish.
Each blind was made in Milwaukee Sandshell fabric, chosen for its ability to softly diffuse natural light and improve thermal performance throughout the year. The neutral tone was selected to coordinate with the existing curtains, ensuring a consistent interior palette.
A bespoke L-shaped frame system was used to achieve a precise fit within the roof structure, allowing the blinds to operate smoothly while remaining unobtrusive when open. The result is a clean, tailored installation that sits neatly within the architecture.
For ease of use, the system includes multi-channel remote control for individual or grouped operation, along with smart hub integration. This enables app control, voice activation, and automated scheduling, allowing the blinds to adjust throughout the day for improved comfort and efficiency.
