The Benefits Of Eco-Friendly Blinds
Reduce Heating Bills
It’s estimated that up to 30% of heat is lost through windows (source). That’s a huge amount, but properly installed window blinds can reduce that figure. Honeycomb blinds for example, are a popular choice for saving energy. They’ve been designed to act as a thermal barrier, and the air pocket inside them helps to trap heat. This means you’ll cut down on your energy bills and reduce your carbon footprint simultaneously. It’s not just during the winter either; in summer, honeycomb blinds can reduce heat absorption from the sun’s glare, so you won’t need the air conditioning permanently switched on to keep the house cool. As a bonus, honeycomb blinds can also dampen external noise. If you live near a motorcycle enthusiast with an especially loud engine, honeycomb blinds will help make your home quieter.
Sustainability
Certain types of window blinds are specifically made from sustainable materials. Our eco roller blinds are built with recycled polyester that’s been processed into yarn. Similarly, our eco-wood window shutters are manufactured with Light Density Fibreboard (LDF), a product made by compressing resin and wood fibres together. The fibres are all taken from off-cuts, so no wood is wasted in their production. These products are all environmentally friendly and can be recycled once they reach the end of their lives.
