Window shutters have been lauded as a great way to add a classy touch to a house and potentially make it more attractive to buyers.
A GT blog suggested the popularity of this type of window dressing is on the rise; with an estate agent telling the website that it could add value to a home if the addition is installed tastefully.
Danny Hardy, sales manager at Kinleigh Folkard Hayward, claimed window shutters can help create an “upmarket” aesthetic; while blinds, tracks and poles expert James Foote said they are very much in fashion right now.
“We’ve been pleasantly surprised by the growth in popularity of shutters this year. They are bang on trend and are becoming a status symbol for both urban and suburban householders across the country,” he remarked.
Reflecting on why window shutters are such an attractive feature, the site highlighted the way “chic, clean lines” are added to a home.
The Seattle Times’ Mary Carol Garrity was equally complimentary about plantation-style shutters, explaining that she had this type of window for 22 years.
Proclaiming her affection for the design option, she said it was the ease with which a person can control the light and privacy in a room that appealed to her.
