What was it Patrick McGoohan said in the cult classic TV show The Prisoner? “I am not a number! … I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered!” Well, we’ve all probably had enough of categorization in recent times. It’s nice to be treated as an individual. Choosing Appeal for your home-shading needs guarantees that – because every solution we provide is tailor-made for your home.

In tailoring, there is a distinction between “bespoke” and “made to measure”. On Savile Row, it’s the difference between every choice and measurement being specific to the customer and some parts of the suit being taken from pre-measured templates. Appeal’s blinds and other shading solutions are truly bespoke … you have a wealth of choice of materials, styles and colours or patterns; and our blinds can be cut to fit just about any size or shape of window.

Award-Winning Bespoke Service

Appeal is the holder of a prestigious Feefo Platinum Trusted Service Award for continued excellence in customer service. (Feefo is the independent customer review site with only genuine client feedback.) And, as many of the reviews state, five-star service starts with a no-pressure, no-nonsense design consultancy visit – arranged for a time to suit you: daytime or evening, weekday or weekend.

Home visits are permitted under current Covid-19 guidelines (except in Tier 4 areas in Scotland) and we will keep you informed if anything changes. We follow stringent and regularly updated protective protocols – click here for details.

Our design consultants will listen to your design thoughts, then both offer creative inspiration and present practical solutions to provide an overall solution that suits your home perfectly. They tell you the pros and cons of a product in each context so you make an informed choice – there’s no hard sell or steering to a particular product.

Because a custom fit is so important to Appeal’s products, measurements are only taken by a qualified surveyor. Similarly, installation is the work of our team of highly experienced professionals, who take immense pride in their work.

Not all blinds companies work in this way. For Appeal, it is a matter of pride – treat each customer as a valued individual, and each job as if it was in our own homes. It may sound touchy-feely but we also know from experience that our approach is why we have so many repeat customers and word-of-mouth recommendations.

Bespoke Window Blinds

What Does Bespoke Mean For You?

Now, it’s one thing to refer to a bespoke service (and some companies confuse that term with made to measure), but what does that actually mean in terms of products?

It means that no shape or size of window (large blinds or small) is a challenge we can’t handle.

It means that you choose exactly what material and style your blinds are made from – including specialist materials with unbeatable insulating functionality, for example.

It means we have a state-of-the-art workshop in Bristol where our craftspeople laser-cut our products with complete precision, before hand-finishing your blind individually to ensure they hang right.

It would also mean that our blinds would come in a choice of over 400 colours and patterns… except that we also offer a colour-matching service on many of them, so in fact the choice is infinite.

It means awnings custom-sized and coloured to fit the dimensions of your terrace; insect screens which fit snugly into any window or door space; and shutters in your choice of wood, with slats where you want them but not where you don’t, and painted the exact shade you prefer.

Let us offer some specific examples of what bespoke means for you…

Made to Measure Window Blinds

Tech That Works For You

Powered blinds remove any need for unsightly (and potentially dangerous) dangling pull-cords, and the award-winning, smooth-operating ULTRA Smart Blinds system has a rechargeable long-life Li-ion battery (no wiring to the mains). You then have the choice of how you control them – from a wall switch or handheld remote; via a phone or tablet app (with ULTRA Plus) even if you’re not home; or with voice activation through an Alexa or Google Nest hub. Customization continues as you can opt to group a room’s blinds or operate them individually. Furthermore, with the ULTRA Plus option (with or without voice activation), you can pre-programme scenarios. Our consultants will advise you on the best option for your lifestyle.

Custom Window Blinds

Blinds For Challenging Spots

The sharp angles, inaccessible location and large triangular glazed areas of a gable end makes it difficult for most blinds companies to provide complete shading without compromises – guide wires, cords and gaps. Appeal has created the ClearView gable end pleated blind to provide a neat, attractive and functional solution where the blinds move into position like well-choreographed dancers, then retract completely when not required, leaving an unobstructed view. This precision is only possible with our tailor-made approach.

It’s a similar story for French, bi-fold and patio doors. Some companies are limited by their hardware as to what style of blind they can offer. We can adapt all Appeal styles – Roller, Pleated, Venetian, Roman and the unique Finestra curtain/blind hybrid – from window to door usage. So you can enjoy all the advantages of natural light from a glass wall, but know that you can protect your room from excessive UV rays and heat in summer and the cold in winter.

Lantern roofs are another challenge for most blinds companies. If they can provide a solution, it involves unappealing support wires. Because we at Appeal can make a ceiling blind up to 2m wide and 3.8m long, we have just about every possible lantern roof covered – except when you want it uncovered (then it’s an unobstructed view).

A Thank You From Appeal’s Chairman

I don’t have to tell you that 2020 has been a tough year. Just like so many businesses, Appeal has faced challenges. But we have got through it and, in many ways, grown stronger as a company.

This is thanks, on the one hand, to tireless work by our staff – our expert design consultants, surveyors and installers on the road, our skilled craftspeople in our workshop, and our dedicated customer support team in the office (or at home). But it’s also due, in large part, to the loyalty of our customers, returning to us for further home improvements and recommending us to friends and family.

We’d like to think this is because our bespoke approach, recognizing the individual needs of each customer, sets us aside from anonymous companies. We certainly regard our customers as part of the Appeal family.

In recognition of this, I’d like to offer a Christmas present to Appeal customers existing and new… £400 towards a Haus awning, or £200 towards any blinds, shutters or insect screens. *

Thanks and Merry Christmas

Michael Madigan

Executive Chairman – Appeal Group Ltd
