National Child Safety Week is running from Monday 5th to Sunday 11th of June, and it’s the ideal time to take a step back and think about how safe your house is. Here at Appeal Home Shading, our team understands just how important home safety is.

This year’s theme is Safety Made Simple. Accidents happen when there is a lot going on, and the best solutions are often the most simple ones. Small changes can make a big difference. We are proud to support Child Safety Week 2023 and do everything we can to prevent harm through our high-quality and safe products, and by raising awareness.

Blinds for childrens bedrooms

Window Blinds And Child Safety

Having a child is a delightful experience but can also play havoc with your nerves, especially when they start crawling. Young children are naturally inquisitive and have a habit of playing with anything that crosses their path. As parents, we have to ensure that they don’t get their hands on anything potentially dangerous.

You might be wondering what this has to do with window blinds? Well, if you’ve ever made the mistake of leaving a dangling cord in reach of the floor, you’ll have an idea. The last thing you want is for your curious one-year-old to get themselves tangled up in one, causing them injury and distress.

With the latest technology like that offered by us at Appeal, you can mitigate that risk. For example, you can replace your existing shading with our ULTRA® Smart Blinds. These innovative modern blinds are completely cordless and instead are controlled electronically. You can operate them via remote control, a wall-mounted panel, or even via voice activation through an Alexa or Google Nest device (upgrade to ULTRA® PLUS for this last option). With no cord hanging from your blinds and more technology behind them, there’s less danger for your children as they explore their homes and get up to mischief.

Safer Homes

We are members of the British Blind And Shutter Association and proudly support their Make It Safe campaign. All of our blinds are designed with child safety in mind. We are committed to making them as safe as possible and not only reducing the risk to children but also giving the parents true peace of mind. It can be very stressful making your home child-safe, but remote control blinds give you one less thing to worry about.

Aside from blinds, there are a few other quick fixes to make your home more child-friendly. Keeping any household cleaning products in a locked cupboard, fitting silicone edges on coffee tables to make them softer, and attaching stair gates can do wonders. They’ll all reduce the risk to your children and make your own life that bit less stressful.
