The addition of window shutters to a home can give the property new life, according to a professional designer.
In her column for The Gazette, Suzanne Rowe described how one couple could transform their semi-detached urban home by installing the window coverings and painting the front door the same colour.
Her suggestion was to put in black window shutters and use semi-gloss exterior paint on the door, while also potentially adding black light fixtures to the front of the house.
Explaining the brief she was given by the owners, Ms Rowe said: “A most endearing couple, married for 55 years, were hoping for a low-maintenance, but colourful landscaping design to rejuvenate the overall look of their home.”
She also offered suggestions as to how to convert their front garden, but her primary recommendations concerned the facade of the home.
It may come as no surprise that updating their home is at the fore-front of many people’s minds this month, according to the Omaha World-Herald‘s staff writer Michael O’Connor, the New Year is the perfect time to for people to rejuvenate themselves and their homes by making a few changes.
While people can feel better by exercising more and improving their diet, for a property he claimed it is all about de-cluttering – making sure the place looks as tidy as possible as 2012 gets going.
